Housing for the Chawaitiri Elders

Chawaitiri is a deeply traditional Quechua community in the high Andes of the Cusco region of Peru. A sacred Apu-Pachamama community in the throes of re-incorporating thirty families that migrated to cities and were then forced to leave the city during Covid. The return of these relatives reinforces the communal agriculture and ceremonial strength of the traditional people. The Chawaitiri elders are active keepers of ancient 5000 year old altars threatened with erasure by newly invasive evangelical sects.
