Help Us Give Legal Rights to the Ocean & Rivers with Two New “Earth Lawyers”

Earth Law Center seeks funding to meet the rising demand for our legal expertise in securing Nature’s legal rights and guardianship worldwide, including for iconic species like Southern Resident Orcas and stingless bees—with 50% of donations dedicated to local re-grants.

Grant Wilson
Earth Law Center (a 501c3) seeks support to hire two needed 'Earth lawyers' to expand projects across 20+ countries, securing legal rights and guardianship for the Ocean and rivers. Our mission is to align human laws with the laws of Nature through innovative, impactful campaigns worldwide.

For the Ocean, we aim to establish legal rights for key marine species—such as Southern Resident Orcas, sea turtles, deep-sea species, and sharks—focusing on the USA, Latin America, and the Pacific. Additionally, we’re working to secure corporate board representation for “the Ocean.”

For rivers, we aim to establish legal rights and guardianship bodies for major rivers, including the River Ethiope in Nigeria, the Biobio River in Chile, and the Elwha River in Washington State (USA), among others.

Half of all funding, up to our goal, will be dedicated to re-grants for local community partners where we work, with flexibility to align with donor interests. This approach strengthens other organizations and leaders championing Rights of Nature and Earth-centered law.

Our funding goal is $150,000 for Oceans and $150,000 for Rivers, totaling $300,000.
