Elevating Voices of Indigenous Community Elders

Working with native-owned publishers at Guani Press, we want to publish five volumes laying out the cultural protocols and principles that guide our stewardship of lands and communities. Working with elders and wisdom keepers from Akwesasne, NY and Pine Ridge, South Dakota, we want to build upon the success of our first booklet that shared cultural context and the purpose of each ceremonial element of Oglala Lakota ceremony. This first booklet has had 3 reprintings to date. We have had requests to translate this booklet into Spanish, currently in progress. Other elements of ceremony and stewardship, such as how we prepare and use sacred foods, are topics we want to put into all open hands.
